Just a quick note to say that there are some great books out there that tie into our Exploring Patterns unit in math. I highly recommend the following for bedtime read-alouds at home:
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, by Dr. Seuss
Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown
Mortimer, by Robert Munsch
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Joffe Numeroff
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?, by Bill Martin, Jr.
The Napping House, by Audrey Wood
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen
Chester’s Way, by Kevin Henkes
Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom, by Bill Martin, Jr.
As you read these stories to your children, emphasize that things repeated over and over again are patterns. Ask them to find patterns on the pages of the books you share together, identifying patterns in rhyme as well as words and pictures. Ask them to predict what comes next, once the pattern has been established. Above all, enjoy reading these books and treasure that cuddle time! Happy Reading!
